Game 1: 6/12/21, 4:05 PM (Phillies win 8-7)
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, in front of 38,450 fans, the Yankees lost by a final score of 8-7 in extra innings. Yankees starter Jameson Taillon, did not get out of the 1st inning allowing 4 runs, he was flat out terrible! New York's bullpen was efficient for the rest of the game, allowing 3 runs until Aroldis Chapman allowed the winning run in the 10th inning. The "Savages in the Box" came alive in this game mashing 10 hits with 3 homers. Gary Sanchez hit a long solo homer, while Rougned Odor also hit a solo homer. The biggest blast of the game was DJ LeMahieu’s monster 3 run homer in the 9th to tie the game. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Jean Segura hit a walk off fielders choice to end the Yankees hopes of what could have been their best win of the season. The win for the Phillies went to Archie Bradley and the loss went to Aroldis Chapman.
Game 2: 6/13/21, 1:05 PM (Phillies Win 7-0)
On another beautiful afternoon in Philadelphia, in front of another huge crowd of 38,512 fans, the Yankees get shut out 7-0. Yankees starter Domingo German, had an off game, giving up 7 runs on 10 hits through 4.1 innings. Phillies starter Aaron Nola was dominate, throwing 7.2 innings of shutout balls. only giving up 3 hits and striking out 9. Phillies had 10 hits and 7 runs despite not hitting a home run. The top 3 of the order for the Phillies combined were 7-13 with 5 RBI’s, that was all they needed. The win went to Nola and the loss went to German.

My thoughts:
As a Yankees fan, game 1 was a heart breaker being down 4-0 and 7-2 at times and coming back in the 9th inning to tie just to lose on a walk off. It was relieving seeing the Yankee offense produce and have great at bats. Game 2 was simply a boring game where the Yankees got shut down by Aaron Nola and never showed any signs of life. Players and coaches are starting to get on the hot seat with the surprising and very slow start from what was supposed to be an AL powerhouse. There is a lot of baseball to be played though, and I’m confident these Yankees will turn it around!
What’s next?:
The Phillies will travel to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers. The Yankees will have an off day before they fly to Buffalo, New York, to take on the Toronto Blue Jays in a huge 3 game set for a battle of 3rd place in the AL East.
