Game 1: 8/26/21, 6:40 PM (Yanks win 7-6)
The sailing Yankees continue their impressive winning ways and extend their win streak to 12 straight as the bats came out early and Judge came through late. Starter Jameson Tallion wasn’t satisfactory at all, he had his 1st rough outing since early July, not too worried about this bad start. He gave up 5 runs over 3.2 innings and pitched really lousy. Yanks got out to a 6-0 lead and almost blew it. In the 2nd, Stanton and Gardner would each hit solo homers to give themselves an early 2-0 lead. In the 3rd, a Rizzo RBI double and 3-run bomb by Gallo gave them what we thought was gonna be a laugher at a 6-0 lead. A’s chipped away and eventually scored 6 unanswered runs to tie the game. It stayed 6-6 until the top of the 9th, Judge would come up and bloop the game winning RBI single scoring Tyler Wade to give NY a 7-6 lead. The bullpen was nails in relief of Tallion, only Abreu gave up 1 run but the chain of Holmes, Loaisiga, and Chapman was excellent. Chapman picked up his 300th career save and he was lights out in the 9th. Huge milestone for Chapman, hopefully he returns to early season form. Loaisiga took his 9th win of the year while Lou Trivino took the loss. Yanks go for 13 straight with their ace on the bump tomorrow.

Game 2: 8/27/21, 6:40 PM (Yanks win 8-2)
Lucky thirteen. Yanks first 13 game win streak since 1961, haven’t lost since the Field Of Dreams game on August 12th, and have won 25 of the last 30. What an unbelievable run! Gerrit Cole was excellent as he battled through some long at bats and not his best control but still managed to throw 6 scoreless innings. This start will surely help his Cy Young case, he’s currently the heavy favorite as he’s been the best most reliable pitcher in all of baseball. This looked like a pitchers dual between Cole and A’s ace Sean Manaea but things quickly changed in the top of the 4th. Stanton and Voit would both demolish solo blasts for a 2-9 lead. Stanton’s homer traveled 476 feet, this is by far the furthest homer by the Yanks this season. Voit’s homer wasn’t a cheap shot either as his traveled 419 feet. In the 5th, Judge would join the home run parade and he launched a monster 3-run shot to put the game away at 5-0. Joely Rodriguez pitched the 7th and wasn’t acceptable, he gave up the 2 runs the A’s scored. Chad Green relieved him and was the star of the bullpen, he escaped the Rodriguez mess and struck-out the side in the 8th all on curveballs, his curve was really working and it showed. Higashioka eliminated the save situation with a 2-run homer in the 9th and later on Judge would add an RBI single for the team leading 70th RBI. Judge is quietly having himself an MVP caliber season and he’s finally had a healthy season for the most part thus far. Cole picked up the win and Manaea took the loss.
Game 3: 8/28/21, 1:10 PM (A’s win 3-2)
All good things must come to an end at some point as the Yanks streak is over. The offense was shut down by Frankie Montas. Yanks starter Nestor Cortes wasn’t awful, he unfortunately got 0 runs for run support. He gave up 3 runs over 5.1 innings. Judge continues his hot tear as he had 3 of the Yankees 5 hits all night, including a 2-run homer in the 9th to avoid the shutout and cut the deficit to 1. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the magic to keep the inning going. I hate when this team loses, but this is the least bothered I’ve ever been by a Yankee loss in my whole life. Cortes took the loss while Montas picked up the win. Move on and start another winning streak!
Game 4: 8/29/21, 7:05 PM SNB (Oakland wins 3-1)
Yanks started a streak, but it’s a losing streak now. Yanks dropped back to back games in Oakland as the offense disappeared. Jordan Montgomery was excellent, he gave the Yanks 6 innings of 1 run (unearned) ball. There was some sloppy fielding on both sides as the only Yankee run was unearned as well. In the 7th, Rizzo hit a ball to 3rd baseman Matt Chapman, he bobbled it and ended up in the outfield scoring Sanchez from 2nd and making it an unearned run and no RBI. Unfortunately, a 1-1 tie wouldn’t last long, in the 8th the Yankee killer this year Tony Kemp would hit a go ahead 2- run homer to give the A’s a 3-1 lead and that’s all they needed. We know Green is prone to giving up homers from time to time but that really sucked. Green took the loss and Deolis Guerro picked up the win.

My thoughts:
Can’t complain! Yankees held a 13 game winning streak in the dog days of August? Yankees can't do anything but move on and try to start another streak. Although losing the final 2 games and settling for a split sucks, the Yankees have pulled through since July 4th, truly remarkable. It’s crazy during the long winning streak, they ended up still losing 2 games on the 1st place Rays who have been beating up the Orioles for the last week. Seems like whenever the Yanks win, the Rays win. Those 2 teams will play what seems like a battle for the division in 3 more games. Their final 3 games of the year are against each other and that could involve major playoff implications.
What’s next?
The A’s travel to Detroit to take on the surprising Detroit Tigers. Tigers haven’t been as bad as people expected, they won’t make the playoffs but definitely a team to watch for next year. The Yanks travel to LA, to take on the Los Angeles Angels in an important 3 game set, a series the Yanks have to win as the Tampa Bay Rays or Boston Red Sox start a 4 game set so Yanks wins means they’ll gain ground either way.
