Game 1: 6/25/21, 7:15 PM (Red Sox win 5-3)
The New York Yankees rivaled against their biggest foes, the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees drop game 1 of the series in front of a sold out crowd at Fenway Park. Yankees sent out Domingo German against Boston starter Martin Perez in a game you thought the Yankees would win. German continued his streak of uninspiring performances, tossing 4 innings of 4 run ball, flat out terrible! New York would fall behind in the 1st after the Sox would score 3 on a 2-run double by Xander Bogaerts followed by an RBI double from Hunter Renfroe. Yanks would answer that with 3 of their own in the top of the 2nd. New York would have the bases loaded with 2 outs where Clint Frazier would then draw a based loaded walk to bring in a run and DJ LeMehieu would smack a 2-run single to tie the game at 3. An inning later, Boston would tack on the go ahead run which would turn out to be enough to be the game winning run, Renfroe would get his 2nd RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly scoring J.D Martinez. The Yankees bullpen was great throwing 4 innings only giving up 1 run in the 8th inning making it a 5-3 Boston lead. New York would make things very interesting in the 9th, having 1st and 2nd on with 1 out but LeMehieu would ground into a game ending double play. German would get the loss while Garret Whitlock would get the win for the Red Sox.

Game 2: 6/26/21, 7:15 PM (Red Sox win 4-2)
Same old stuff on a Saturday night, game 2 was nationally televised against The Sox as they would drop game 2. Yanks starter Jordan Montgomery, was actually solid and deserved more run support. He would throw 6 innings with a 3 run ball making it a quality start. All 4 of Boston’s runs came from a sacrifice fly, pretty impressive. Yanks would trail 4-0 heading into the 8th but would start to have really good long at bats. LeMahieu would smack a solo shot to make it 4-1 and in the 9th he would tack on another RBI on a single scoring Rougned Odor. Another disappointing loss charged on Jordan Montgomery while Nathan Eovaldi would get the win. Eovaldi was dominant tossing 7.2 innings of 1 run ball, he was untouchable.
Game 3: 6/27/21, 1:05 PM (Boston wins 9-2)
New York sent out Gerrit Cole to try to salvage game 3 and stop the bleeding, but turns out he would have his worst start as a Yankee, giving up 6 runs over 5 innings. There is not much else to say other than he was awful and he got smacked around giving up 3 homers. The bullpen over 3 innings was also terrible giving up 3 runs. The Yanks offense was awful again, only scoring 2 runs on 7 hits. Aaron Judge was the only offense hitting a 2-run homer scoring DJ. Cole would get the loss and Eduardo Rodriguez would get the win.
My thoughts:
The Yankees players didn’t show up, they were awful at all aspects of baseball in this series. They continue to struggle against AL East foes which becomes problematic come playoff time. Maybe they can turn it around? Or maybe they won't. The Yankees simply have to play better baseball.
What’s next?
Boston welcomes in the awful Kansas City Royals for a 4 game set at Fenway. New York goes back home to take on MVP candidate Shohei Ohtani and The Los Angeles Angels for a 4 game set in the Bronx.
