Last night, the New York Mets were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles with a final score of 10-3. The Mets started off hot, as Pete Alonso hit a home run in the first inning, giving the Mets a quick 2-0 lead. From that point on, Baltimore fired their engines as they compiled 10 runs on 16 hits.

David Peterson for New York, struggled giving up 4 earned runs in less than 3 innings. The bullpen was not much better as relievers Robert Gsellman, Jacob Barnes and Drew Smith all gave up runs as well. Pete Alonso hit another home run in the ninth inning but it was a little to late for the New York Mets.
For Baltimore, 8 of the 9 starting batters had a hit. Maikel Franco and Anthony Santander had home runs. Starter Bruce Zimmerman pitched exceptionally, only giving up 2 runs over 5 innings.
The Mets next game will be played tonight, June 9th, in Baltimore as this is the final game of the series. The Mets will send out Taijuan Walker against former Matt Harvey. Tonights game can be seen on SNY and listened to on WCBS 880.
